Functional safety and security

New technologies often enable new products and services that could make life easier. At the same time, they introduce new risks that need to be addressed.

Carabiner offers engineering know-how to mitigate these risks.
We have broad experience in the management and development of functional safety and security for embedded systems. We have been involved in the development, roll out and assessment of the ISO 26262 functional safety standard as well as implementation of the IEC-61508 standard.

Our combined experience from R&D at OEMs, supplier organizations, service providers, standardization bodies as well as the academia, allows us to understand and handle all aspects of functional safety and security throughout the life cycle of a product.

We offer services within safety and security management, functional safety and security engineering, independent review and assessment, as well as hands on training on ISO 26262 for managers and development engineers.

Systems engineering

Managing the increasing complexity of embedded systems necessitate a strong emphasis on the architecture and the design aspects of a product. The core of the problems in complex systems is introduced by human errors during the concept and the design phases.

Carabiner offers system engineering services to support our customers in balancing the different properties of a system such as intended functionality, safety, availability and sustainability under its complete life cycle.

Our systems engineers are the links that keep the different parts of a distributed development team together. Our philosophy is to devise the simplest possible solution for the most complicated problems.

We offer services within system architecture, requirement and configuration management, system integration, verification engineering and functional safety management.

SW engineering

Software is nowadays an integrated part of products and services that we use in our daily life, in our cars and trucks, communication systems, medical equipment and sustainable energy systems.

We have been and are involved in the transition from the old school SW coding methods to the newer model based approaches, as well as in the ongoing move from waterfall to agile development methods.

We have experience from management of SW teams developing Autosar software for continuous integration and process development.

Our engineers have hands-on experience from all stages of SW development: concept definition and prototyping of solutions, software architecture and design, software project management, verification engineering and software safety analysis.

Electromobility

The global warming and the heavy pollution in many big cities require a transition from combustion engines to sustainable mobility technologies. There is a strong demand from the society to develop fossil free vehicles where the Electric Vehicle is the main concept for the near future.

The electromobility concepts have evolved from Hybrid Vehicles with an electrical range of 5 km, via Plug-in Hybrids, to Pure Electric Vehicles with a range of more than 400 km. Apart from being zero emission vehicles the technology offers; refuel at home, seamless gear shifting, clean and silent drivetrain, air condition in all vehicle modes, and of course, great acceleration performance. There is also a big market increase in electrical assisted bicycles.

Carabiner has extensive experience in the electromobility technology areas such as High Voltage Systems Design, Electric Propulsion, Personal/Electrical Safety, Battery Management & Power Conversion.
